Hand Carved Door Knob/Hook

These hand-carved pieces by Thomas Wheller can be used as either a door knob or a wall hook. As a door fitting, they rework the familiar proportions of a traditional knob into something more tactile and slightly exaggerated. Used as a hook, they become characterful objects that sit between sculpture and function.

In both uses, the knob and base are carved from solid wood, with the final form shaped directly by hand. The surface is textured and uneven, with deliberate irregularities and visible traces of the carving process left intact. Each piece is one-of-a-kind. Variations in form and surface are part of the design.

Available in a range of shapes and woods: oak, ash and walnut.
